With Flying Colors

She's such a trooper!  Here she is in her new prayer shawl.
So we have good news and frustrating news...

Frustrating news:  Mom's surgery for a partial hip replacement (scheduled for 3:30pm) didn't begin until 8:20pm.  This meant that she didn't eat for over 24 hours and no drink since 8:00am this morning!!!

Good news:  The procedure went well.  Surgery was done at 9:35pm and we were able to go back and see her in recovery around 10:20 pm.  She had a spinal block instead of general anesthesia which went SO MUCH BETTER!  She sailed through her time in the recovery room with flying colors!  She wasn't nauseous and she was smiling when we first walked in to see her.  (Thanks Joy for the anti- nausea during-the-procedure medication tip!)

We haven't spoken with the doctor yet tonight, so we'll let you know details about the procedure tomorrow.  She did have to change rooms so she is now back to the 4th floor but in room 4106 which is a semi-private room.  We are thrilled about that little perk too!  Before we left tonight, Mo, Carrie and I set up her new room with some of her flowers, cards, books, clothes and even a cot for Dad!

Thanks for all your prayers!  Keep it up!

Sighing with Gratitude,
Us
