Some Good News

Last night went quite well for Mom.  She only woke up a few times to go use the bathroom and then went back to sleep.  This morning she was nauseated again by the pain medication and ended up puking up breakfast, however, she said it didn't hurt her lung too badly when she did.

So the good news... after the latest test results the doctor believes her condition to be viral.  While a common cold is on one end of the spectrum of viral infections, Mom's viral infection is a VERY nasty one at the opposite end of the spectrum.  Since it is viral, they can only treat the symptoms and therefore we are very glad they put in the "semi-permanent" drain rather than having to poke her over and over to deal with the symptom of fluid around the lung.  In addition, the x-ray/ct scan they did this morning showed no sign of blood clots and for that we are all very grateful as well.  At this point, a biopsy or exploratory surgery has been removed from the list of next step options and they will be moving her from ICU to a regular room.

Thanks SO much for all your prayers!  Keep them coming so that this viral infection will clear up quickly!!
