A Couple of Things...

Yesterday, Wednesday, Mom and Dad went to London to meet with Dr. David Palma an oncologist who specializes in radiation.  Monic joined them at the hospital and all three sat down with Dr. Palma for a planning session.  After the doctor called Mom's oncologist, Dr. Aboo and spoke with him briefly, he does think radiation is the way to go.  Therefore, Mom will be down in London having a five day session of radiation Monday-Friday of next week since her next round of chemo is the week after that.  These sessions will begin with a CT scan of her whole body Monday morning and at that time they will mark where they think it is best to focus the radiation.  Doing another session of radiation again in the future is a very real possiblity.

Today, Thursday, Mom and Dad went back to Owen Sound to meet with Dr. Henning the orthopaedic surgeon for an update.  She excitedly called me this morning to say that after 3 x-rays and a consult with him she is now allowed to:

• be full weight-bearing upon that right leg
• in the next 1-3 weeks wean herself off of the walker/cane
• sleep on the side of the incision (Which she is THRILLED about!!  She is a side sleeper.)
• move her leg outside of 90 degrees as she is able
• in 2 weeks time begin to drive again
• Oh.... and she may resume her love-making activities.  :) I'm sorry but that just makes me smirk!

All of these allowances are based upon her listening to her body and taking it easy when it tells her to.  Her next appointment with Dr. Henning will be on June 7.
