Today Mom and Dad were finally able to meet with a surgeon to discuss what should be done at this point to determine what is going on. He asked her many routine, medical history type questions and then told her that this would be the game plan:
They will...
- place her on her right side for this surgery so that her left lung is easily accesible
- make at least three incisions to view the lung and pleura.
- insert a drain tube that will remain in place
- place talc inside the pleura against the lung to act as a drying agent but also to reduce irritation which they think may also be causing fluid build up
- take several biopsies for further examination and study
- may make more incisions or larger ones if they find something they decide NEEDS to be taken care of.
- require at LEAST a 3-4 day hospital stay if it's three incisions, may be more if the surgery becomes more invasive.
Prayer Requests:
- Wisdom and steady hands for the surgeon and medical staff
- Answers to come from this procedure
- Peace and calm spirits for both Mom and Dad
- Quick recovery with as little pain and discomfort as possible
:) All of Us
