Boosting Her Spirits

Last night was probably one of the most difficult nights I have ever experienced.  It took a while for Mom to be released from PACU/Recovery and be put into a room.  Once she was settled Dad, Monic and I went in.  She was being her typical joking, lighthearted self with the nursing staff, which was bittersweet.

We knew that in the next few minutes, her life would change.

My dad (who Mom joked was her 'Lover')  greeted her tenderly with kisses and asked how she was feeling.  He then asked if she had talked to the doctor, to which she said 'No....why?'  Then as he held her hand he told her that the news wasn't what we wanted to hear.  A silent tear trickled down her cheek.  He continued to hold her hand and assured her that we would take it one step at a time, that God is in control and that we still didn't know the results of the biopsies.

We stayed with her until around 8:15pm which included a visit from Mom's sister and brother-in-law and then left her so she could get some sleep.

Last night, we all slept at the farm and were joined by my brother, Marcel and his wife Shelly which was to be a surprise for my mom.

Today we invested the day in keeping Mom's spirits up.  We all visited on and off throughout the day.  She had an x-ray done this morning which we will hopefully know the results of tomorrow morning.  We don't have biopsy results yet but we (my mom, my dad, Monic, Marcel, Shelly and myself will meet with Dr. Nechela (the surgeon) and get some answers to our list of questions between 7:30-9am tomorrow.

Please keep praying:
  • the biopsy results are not what the doctor thinks
  • we all have peace to wait but also to handle whatever comes our way
  • Healing for Mom - the incision and drain site both look good.

We are creating a book of all your comments so she can read them.  We are requesting that you send your favorite Bible passages to encourage her as well.

THANKS!

My dear sweet Aunt Jane, I Love you. My prayers are with you...
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

  4. Jane & Marinus and family,
We will be praying along with you for complete healing and restoration. The children and all of us at First CRC need you back, Jane! Favorite verse: God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall, He lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us, the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalm 46.

  5. Jane and Marinus and family,
Although many miles separate us,we share the same faith in Christ and that brings us together in our prayers for you. The verse Jer and I want to share with you is found in Heb. 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
