Gideon's Mishap

Well, it was off to the ER again for one of the Sall boys. This time it was Gideon who decided to do a no hand scooter trick. Unfortunately, he didn't pull it off! For those of you who've known us for a while, yes, this is the second time he has broken his right arm!

Here's the latest scoop on his care. We went to Urgent Care first around 5:30pm tonight. There they xrayed it and sure enough, he broke both the radius and ulna. However, they weren't parallel breaks and it was a little twisted. So off to Spectrum downtown we went (around 8pm). We arrived at Spectrum and gave the triage nurse the paperwork from Urgent Care which allowed us to be seen by the nurse quite quickly. She got us back to a room (which also turned out to be a blessing because within ten minutes all the ER rooms were full and there were people on beds out in the hallway.

Long story short, by the time everyone got the low down on his condition and we could get the nurse, the peds dr, and the ortho dr all together to set the arm it was 11:30pm. They did concious sedation (which was a first for the Salls). We left the ER around 12:30pm with a plaster air cast, a prescription for kids vicodin and instructions to follow up with the Ortho surgeon next week. Thank the Lord it looks like we won't have to have surgery!!! Hopefully, next week we'll be able to get a cast on that he can get wet.

Oh, and once we got home, he vomitted due to the pain meds (This was definitely NOT the night Kevin and I anticipated but thank goodness all went relatively smoothly.)

Continuing to covet your prayers for speedy healing,

Kevin and Christine and Gideon
