Prayer Request

While my (Christine's) mom had been doing very well since her hospitalization in August of last year, about two weeks ago she began having pain and difficulty breathing again.  Last week they drained 1.5L of fluid off her one lung to give her some relief.  In August the doctors decided that whatever was causing this fluid build up, had run it's course but with the return of the the symptoms of pleural effusion (fluid around the lung) they have decided it is going to require a more invasion treatment plan.

Today she went to an appointment with the specialist in Owen Sound.  Dr. Newton told both my parents that there had been some changes in the cellular structure of that fluid that they drained from around her lung last week compared to August and they don't like the changes.  So the next step is a type of exploratory surgery where they will make a couple of incisions in her chest and run a scope around the pleural sac to get a closer look at it.  At the same time they will take a biopsy of both the lung and the pleura for further analysis.  It is sometimes difficult to get a quick surgical apppointment but Dr. Newton assured my folks that he would mark it urgent and my mom should expect a call next week for pre-surgical appointment with the surgeon.

Please pray for pain control and some answers to what is causing this.
