As I sit here this evening, I am revelling in this time of quiet reflection. Noah and Gideon are sound asleep in their beds right on the other side of this desk and Tristan is conked out in his bedroom upstairs. Unfortunately, Wyatt didn't have such a great night but he can't be perfect all the time. Today was a little out of the ordinary. I had the priviledge of spending it with my sister and brother-in-law, Tim and Amanda. They have decided to tackle quite a large project in completely redoing their landscaping. This has included constructing a new patio in the backyard, removing all the "old" bushes, digging up sod and placing in new permaloc edging.
However, today was buy new stuff to replace the old stuff! So they called me. Now I am a far cry from a professional landscaper but truth be known I do love to shop and thoroughly enjoy plants and flowers, so I stepped up to the task. But, I don't travel alone. Mondays both Noah and Gideon are in school so that leaves me with Tristan (3) and Wyatt (3 1/2 mos.). I'm not 100% certain but it appears as if Tristan loves shopping as much as his Mama. He "helped" Uncle Tim and Aunt Amanda push and pull carts full of bushes all around the garden center. While Wyatt, was a little angel, cooing and smiling at his aunt and uncle.
But that was just the beginning, after buying everything we would need it was time to plant all the new purchases. I tell you this in such detail because I really hope you can grasp how truly blessed I am. After 6 1/2 hours of shopping and planting, not once did my boys cry or scream for my attention. There was a moment when I was feeding Wyatt and I looked out the living room window to see Tristan, plopped down in the grass using some retaining wall blocks as a table and contented enjoying the shade of 100+ year old maple tree, smiling and rocking back and forth munching on his VERY LATE lunch. It's the little things! Wyatt was just content as can be resting and cooing to the leaves on the trees as he "moved" alongside the house with us. Wow! I was truly given such amazing sons and in the peace of this moment, I have had the privilege of remembering that. Even if the evening wasn't all that quiet. :)
